About Me

Charles Ta is a writer, illustrator, and educator based in Union City, NJ. He is a graduate of the New School's BAFA program, with a BFA in Illustration from Parsons School of Design, a BA in Writing from Eugene Lang College, and a minor in Psychology.

Charles has created cartoons and illustrations both for himself and other clients (including promotional work for Robert Blake Whitehill's Ben Blackshaw book series), working in a variety of styles from realistic to cartoonish, and exploring how topics like science fiction, philosophy, politics, psychology, social justice, mythology, and environmentalism intersect and inform one another in his art.
His short story “Tough Luck, Kid” was previously published as part of a short story anthology in the book BLAST by author Robert Blake Whitehill, the latest entry in his Ben Blackshaw action/thriller series. He has also had stories published in Sci-Phi Journal, 365 Tomorrows, Storm Dragon Publishing (in an anthology titled Dragon Dreams), and Flame Tree Press, as well as written freelance nonfiction pieces for clients on Linkedin.
When not immersed in a good book or traveling to strange, often alien worlds, Charles teaches special education students in West New York, NJ.
