Author Picture Cropped BW.jpg

Charles Ta is a writer, illustrator, and educator based in Union City, NJ. He is a graduate of the New School's BAFA program, with a BFA in Illustration from Parsons School of Design, a BA in Writing from Eugene Lang College, and a minor in Psychology.

Charles has created cartoons and illustrations both for himself and other clients (including promotional work for Robert Blake Whitehill's Ben Blackshaw book series), working in a variety of styles from realistic to cartoonish, and exploring how topics like science fiction, philosophy, politics, psychology, social justice, mythology, and environmentalism intersect and inform one another in his art.

His short story "Tough Luck, Kid" was previously published as part of a short story anthology in the book BLAST by author Robert Blake Whitehill, the latest entry in his Ben Blackshaw action/thriller series. He has also had stories published in Sci-Phi Journal ("Xenogram: A Chronology Of The Global Erasure Of Vowel Number Three, And The Merger Of Man"), and 365 Tomorrows ("To the Bitter End"), as well as written freelance nonfiction pieces for clients on Linkedin.

Currently, his short story "Tales from the Dragoning" will soon be published by the new indie publishing company Storm Dragon Publishing for its first anthology, titled Dragon Dreams.

When not working on his art (or creating stories), Charles can usually be found teaching students during the day, or immersed in a good book.
